Letting it all hang out, literally and musically, he dances, shimmies, and shakes his way across the stage, selling each and every phrase. Nic is the ringleader of this crew and he set the tone for the night, early on. Big baselines, shimmering guitars and propulsive drums made way for horns, keys, and samples.

Their musical chemistry is something to see and feel, as they work in tandem with each other. Of course, we can’t forget Nic Offer and his amazing band of musicians, Mario Andreoni (guitar), Dan Gorman ( horns/percussion/ keys), Paul Quattrone (drums), and Rafael Cohen (multi-instrumentalist). Her voice cut the funk, like a laser cuts glass. I couldn’t take my eyes off her, as she moved across the stage. On new songs like “This is the Door,” and “Off The Grid,” Pace was captivating. Her voice is deep, rich, and soulful, and added an extra layer of glue to nearly every song.

She wore a sexy silver sequined dress as no one else could. Meah Pace was an absolute gorgeous sidekick and a perfect fit for the band. The show will go down as one of my top favorite concerts in 2019, as Chk Chk Chk ran through most of their new record, and plenty of sounds from their old. A wallop is just what they delivered, in the form of a groove-laden set, that had folks dancing from the first note to the last.

My friends have been talking up !!!’s live show for a while now and I finally got a chance to see them perform, on the “Wallop“ tour at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. With the advent of streaming came numerous choices, and it’s hard to keep up with all the new music coming out.
